EMPTY BOWLS DINNER SPONSORED BY FRIENDS ENRICHMENT PROGRAM TO BENEFIT LIVE CIVILLY | live civilly

live civilly is proud to announce the Friends Enrichment Program, Annual Empty Bowls Dinner at the Moorestown Friends Meeting House on Sunday, March 29.  The Friends Enrichment Program (FEP) is a local outreach efforts that partners with local families to offer artistic, academic and athletic opportunities to young people.  This amazing program teaches children a multitude of skills and simultaneously offers them opportunities to exhibit their accomplishments as well as give back.  In 2014 live civilly was thrilled to receive a phone call from our friends at the FEP, informing us about their Annual Empty Bowls Dinner.  The dinner is the construct of FEP founder Monique Begg and ceramic artist David Gamber. The dinner is a unique combination of artistic endeavor and philanthropy.  Under the guidance of ceramicist David Gamber, children learn how to make clay bowls by working on a potter’s wheel in the Clay Studio at the Moorestown Friends School.  The bowls are formed, dried, painted and fired and then used to serve soup at the Annual Empty Bowls Dinner.
Empty Bowls Dinnerlive civilly is very appreciative of the many partnerships and relationships it has established over the last four years.  From the Moorestown Ministerium and its many partners to the Moorestown Township Public Schools and a multitude of other organizations, these organizations have helped live civilly to provide opportunities for youth to actively participate in service activities to benefit their community.  Businesses and independent organizations, municipalities and clubs are all a part of the live civilly partnership circle.  The Friends Enrichment Program – a two-decade long outreach program in Moorestown – is one of the many organizations live civilly partners with.

When the FEP called last year, they asked if live civilly would like to be the partial beneficiary of the Empty Bowls Dinner.  We, at live civilly, were honored! live civilly and the FEP have partnered since 2012 to help provide a comprehensive summer experience for local youth through their partnership with the Department of Parks & Recreation.  This combined effort offers local youth the opportunity to attend the Summer Parks Programs and receive lunch daily.

This year, the Friends Enrichment Program has once again invited live civilly to attend, participate and partake in this lovely and intimate evening.  The dinner will be held on SUNDAY MARCH 29 at the Moorestown Friends Meeting House (in front of the Moorestown Friends School) at 118 East Main Street.  For a “freewill donation” diners will purchase a bowl, enjoy homemade soups, breads and light refreshments.  There are two different seatings 5:00-6:00 PM and from 6:30-7:30 PM.  In between the seatings, attendees are invited to enjoy a lovely concert by the Greater South Jersey Chorus under the direction of Ken Ewan.  The proceeds of this event will be split between the Friends Enrichment Program and the nutritional outreach efforts of live civilly.

We invite all of our neighbors and friends to attend an evening of community and fellowship in the Moorestown Friends Meeting House.  It is an opportunity to explore a piece of Moorestown’s history (the Meeting House was built in 1802) and do good while eating well.  Come one, come all !  To reserve seats at the Empty Bowl Dinner, call Monique Begg at (856) 235-3963 or the Meeting Office at (856) 235-1561.
