Come See Us At Moorestown Day! | live civilly

This Saturday marks the annual Moorestown Day and Scott Coffee Rotary Run!  This day-long event is always full of fun booths to visit, interesting activities and fun with friends and family.  live civilly has always enjoyed its participation in this annual community event – it gives us the opportunity to meet new people, introduce people to what we do and encourage new people to get involved.

Moorestown Day will be an opportunity for youth and families to get involved in a wide variety of events over the summer.  Every summer live civilly offers youth, teens and families the opportunity to volunteer in a multitude of capacities.  The One Garden-One Week program offers the opportunity to tend and maintain any one of the Live Civilly Spring GardenCommunity Supported Garden locations.  The Maintain the Brain program will offer youth and teens the opportunity to either receive academic assistance over the summer or assist younger students with summer bridging materials.  Helping at the live civilly/Moorestown Ministerum Pantry is always fun and in need of volunteers!  Conducting food drives to support local pantries is a great summer project for young people.  For a template and ideas contact live civilly to set one up!  The Community Service Club members had some great ideas for summer workshops – from “Game Day” at a local nursing home to “Read Aloud” with local elementary age youth.  There will be plenty to sign up for and so many great service opportunities for youth ages 5-17!  Teenagers seeking service hours will be granted service hours for any initiative they choose to participate in!

This weekend, live civilly will be set up in its “usual” place – just in front of Heron Realty and the Cubby Hole.  We are looking forward to having our Community Service Club members join us for part of the day, as well as our 2nd Moorestown Day 2014annual seedling sale.  The Seedling Sale is an amazing combination of educational, nutritional and STEM initiatives that have been on-going this spring.  Garden Coordinator Toni Farmer has been working with four classes at the UES to grow seedlings that will be used in the live civilly Community Partnership Gardens.  These partnership gardens are then tended by and maintained by youth and family volunteers.  The produce that comes out of the gardens is distributed to the local food pantries and to distribution centers throughout Moorestown.  The seedling sale is the end result of Farmer’s “Grow One Give One” initiative that encouraged young people to try starting seeds on their own.  This Saturday, seedlings that don’t yet have a garden home will be sold at Moorestown Day to help raise funds to go into next year’s gardening initiatives.

Moorestown Day will also be the “hot off the presses” magnets – TWO NEW ONES!  Be the first one to sport live civilly’s latest car magnets in exchange for your $5 donation!  The magnets are super cute are the artwork of co-Founders, Grace and Abigail Buss.  In 2011, Grace’s original “live civilly” magnet design was the first of the Live Civilly fundraising efforts.  To date more than 1,500 magnets have been sold and distributed world-wide!  Magnets have shown up from coast to coast in the United States – as far as Alaska and in far flung places like France, Turkey, Austria and Iceland!

So visit live civilly on Moorestown Day!  So many things to do and we need you!  We look forward to seeing all of you and invite you to be part of the live civilly Nation!  We’re just people helping people helping people helping people!
