Live Civilly Spring Thanks! | live civilly

This spring, live civilly. has been very fortunate to have the support and partnership of a number of different individuals and groups.  From gardens to food drives to preparation for the summer programs we want to take a moment to thank those who have come to the aid and service of the community.

As wintry March was making its exit, a young man in Mt. Laurel was eager to learn more about homelessness and food insecurity.  He chose to work with live civilly. for his school project… oh – did I mention that Will Buniva is in 4th grade?  Will researched food pantries, selected live civilly. to work with and conducted a food drive in his school, Larchmont Elementary.  Following the food drive, he brought all of the food he collected to the live civilly./Moorestown Ministerium Food Pantry to sort and stock it.  He learned about how the pantry operates and what it takes to keep it going.  live civilly. sends a huge shout out to Will Buniva for his efforts and willingness to join the “people helping people helping people” network!

Shortly after Will’s donation to the pantry came a call from the Moorestown Lacrosse Club…

”How can we support the pantries?”

After meeting with MLC leadership and discussing options with live civilly., the club decided to have its teams participate in a food drive initiative. Following weeks of planning and a very busy season the club ran its drive.  live civilly. coordinated with the other two

pantries in Moorestown (Bethel AME and First Baptist Church) and truck loads of donations arrived at ALL THREE MOORESTOWN PANTRIES!  With team after team arriving and bringing their bounty in, pantry representatives were thrilled to have a “pop-up” donation to help fill the shelves!!!  Just another example of how many hands make light work!

And then, came the call from our partners at NFL Films…

”It’s almost Spring (even though it doesn’t feel like it yet!)…how can we help?!”

After much discussion, during the last week of May, when the weather was threatening on a daily basis, the NFL Staff and Summer Interns, came to help live civilly. prepare the UES Gardens for the 2016 growing season.  As the crew of Maryann Wimberly, Rob Wimberly, Anne Duffy, Emily King, Erin Cataldi, Lauren Bartomioli, Linda Endres, Dave Franza, Gabbie Cecatto, Ellen Barlow and Kory Crichton moved more than 1,000 pounds of dirt, ripped out weeds, turned soil and prepared the UES Community Supported Garden for summer 2016.  This partnership followed the fall food drive conducted by NFL Films to benefit the live civilly./Moorestown Ministerium Food Pantry.  NFL Films is one of our newest corporate partners who has chosen to support the live civilly. efforts.

These partnerships illuminate the emphasis behind live civilly’s. mission and vision…to encourage EVERYDAY PHILANTHROPY… the goal is to encourage and facilitate the ability for young people, their families, adults and whole communities to act in ways that benefit the community as a whole … the desire to promote the welfare of others… that gifts of resources, talents and time, to a cause that benefits the greater good are worthwhile.

So thank you to all of our partners – new and old – for your gifts of resources, time and talents.  Thank you for working to fill pantry shelves, clean up our Main Street, prepare and fill garden beds… for contributing in ways that may seem small to you but are huge to the greater community.  Huge because whether we as individuals see it, feel it, know it or directly experience it, serving our neighbor – helping the one who needs help – is what makes our community strong.  It’s how we “live civilly..”
